Wrapper: Connecticut Broad Leaf Binder: Nicaragua Filler: Nicaragua Strength: Medium
Tres Reynas is a collaboration between My Father Cigars and Quesada. The Tres Reynas, or three queens. is named for Raquel and Pachy Quesada, and Janny Garcia, very well know women in the cigar industry who decided to create a cigar of their own representing all three of them. The Tres Reynas is manufactured at the My Father Cigar factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. What makes this cigar even more special is a limited release of 3,000 boxes (1,000 per Vitola) and features a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper surrounding Nicaraguan filler and binder. I love the simple white band with gold trim, featuring the silhouettes of three feminine faces and the words “3 Reynas” in script, as well as”Hecho en Mano” and “Esteli” “Nicaragua” on the band. I believe this cigar is a great choice to smoke due to exceeding your expectations like it did to me. Specially when I found out about this cigar through my boyfriend who was looking at You tube while doing research on cigars.
Flavor: As far as flavor its a rich earthiness/woody and sweetness that takes the forefront along with some taste of dark roast coffee and a very mild dark chocolate taste. Which the flavor doesn’t change and it remains until you finish the cigar. The cigar burns cool and slow and despite the occasionally over ambitious draw it doesn’t get heavy in strength. The Tres Reynas has the strength on the lighter side of medium cigar. I consider it a complex cigar since it changes taste at different portions of the cigar. Great smoke and over all I was very happy to smoke this cigar.
Conclusion: The flavors are very entertaining, this will be added to my regular cigar to smoke. Overall, it is a great blend which is very enjoyable. I really enjoyed the combination of Connecticut broadleaf wrapper and the richer and gentler Nicaraguan filler and binder. Over all The Tres Reynas exceeded my expectations in terms of flavor and complexity, and exuded the kind of excellent performance due to coming from My Father product. Despite a wavy start, the cigar burned clean from start to finish, and had great flavor transitions and good consistency. For a cigar that was just out of a research from You Tube I was really please with this cigar.
