This Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper leaf is plagued with large, knotted veins that make the surface of the cigar incredibly bumpy. The length of the cigar is firm but not overly hard. The cap is thick but the tobacco underneath is crumbled and spills out a bit during the punch cut.
Flavor & Cold Draw:
The pre-light aroma is slightly sweet with a peppery finish. The cold draw has an intense citrus tanginess to it. Once lit, the Capadura 898 gets off to a great start with a balanced profile of salty sweetness with a tangy finish. Halfway through the second third the profile morphs and takes on a nutty/earthy tone.
Burn & Smoking Characteristics:
The burn is slow and steady with a strong, compact ash. The draw is easy and produces lots of smoke.
This was a great afternoon smoke. The flavors were balanced and complex making it a rewarding smoking experience. Like most cigars, it is always best to place in a well maintained cigar humidor prior to smoking.
