The Montecristo 520 was announced at the 2012 Habanos Festival in Cuba. It is to commemorate the 520th years of tobacco in Cuba.
Before I start this review, I have to say for the age of this cigar it is fantastic. It’s so young but gives off the characters of an aged smoke. I can’t wait to age a box or two and keep trying them every 6 months or so,
Flavour – Full Bodied
Length – 15.5 cm
Ring Gauge – 55
The Appearance –
This is a fantastic looking smoke as all montecristo cigars are. The are hardly any visible veins on the cigar resulting in a glossy and smooth looking stick.
The Construction –
Well, where do I start. The construction of this cigar is outstanding. such a tightly packed foot (typically of Cuba) and such an amazing wrapper. So dark and shiny. Almost makes you want to eat the cigar rather than smoke it.
The Flavour –
The flavour of this cigar just oozes cocoa and coffee. The cold draw of this cigar tastes of burnt grass and sweetness and then once lit, it gives off this wonderful aroma of tobacco. Once you hit the middle of the cigar it gets very complex and almost smooth on your palet and introduces hints of nuttiness and pepper. You honestly want it to last forever.
The Value –
i can honestly say I think this is one of the best valued cigars out there at the moment. It ranges between £23 – £30 here in the UK
