FFOxXx001Also known as the Power Ranger, xXx belicoso is a beautiful cigar. With a gorgeous band, and a red ribbon at the foot. The Opus X was the first cigar entirely crafted from Dominican grown Tobacco. As it was deemed “impossible” to grow a suitable wrapper leaf in the country. The Fuente family proved that wrong, and since then we have had Dominican puro cigars from them. I was given this cigar by my dear friend and BOTL Mark. Thanks mate, let’s get this started.

The cigar smelled of baking spices when I removed it from the cellophane and the wrapper is a beautiful chestnut brown, oily with one vein in the middle which was smooth to the touch. The foot showed a great looking cigar, and the cigar didn’t have much give when squeezed. I quickly took the cutter to the cap and the cold draw produced some amazing spice notes of cinnamon, and the sweetness of butter cookies.

FFOxXx002Once lit, the opening is smooth but the baking spices are definitely present. Cinnamon and pepper combine to make a wonderful flavour I love in cigars. Also some coffee and graham cracker flavour round off the opening. These flavours really mix well together and I have to say this is a pretty strong cigar to start. The smoke coats my mouth and the draw is simply perfect.

The second third is full of cedar, leather and those same baking spice notes from the opening. There is a slight salty taste from the wrapper to the lips. This little guy is a strong cigar, and a straight full bodied smoke. A nice tight ash coupled with a razor sharp burn make this one hell of a cigar.

FFoxXx004Burnt cedar, leather and spice continue in perfect harmony all the way to the nub. You begin to get some full strength espresso notes at the end, and it’s really just a fantastic cigar. Right up any smokers alley who loves full bodied full flavour cigars.  Don’t kid yourself here, if you don’t smoke cigars too often or are a novice you maybe feeling a bit green after one of these, so eat a meal first to avoid any of those issues. A big nicotine kick at the end after a gradual build up was a fantastic finish. I need to try one with some age now to compare.

FFOxXx005A fantastic cigar that I wish was just a bit longer, either way really strong, and nice and full flavoured make this a new favourite for me. I have really enjoyed all the Arturo Fuente cigars my buddy Mark swapped with me. I will be sure to get more of these to try in the future.

Final Score 91/100
